THE PROJECT MISSION

Hello! My name is Marv, the creator of the Leo Weltman Project.

The mission of this project is to help preserve Leo’s legacy in 3 phases:

  • Raise funds to care for his remains and his service.

  • Use any remaining funds to donate to a non-profit called Dodger Foundation on his behalf.

  • Memorialize his memory (at Dodger Stadium).

HIS STORY

Before you donate, please take some time to get to know the man who inspired this whole thing.

Leo was born on October 4th, 1960.

To many of his friends and acquaintances, he was known as an amazing actor starring in small roles on television and portraying roles for local theater shows.

Leo was the BIGGEST Los Angeles Dodgers fan in the world.

He loved the game and the team so much that he created the character “Dodger Santa”, where he’d dress in an all blue Santa costume. Knowing him, this was his personal mission to make sure he can help both adults and their kids make the game as exciting and engaging as possible.

In 2000, his influence made its way into my life and my family. I was around 8 years old.

He was still acting and auditioning for different roles at the time.

Yet, of all of them, he played many roles for me:

  • My baseball coach

  • Santa Claus

  • My acting teacher

  • My best friend

And up until he passed on August 25th, 2020, he did his final curtain call fulfilling the most important role: my dad.
